Experience
Mr. Hsu has over 20 years of experience in intellectual property law practice, including patent prosecution, patent infringement and declaratory judgment litigation, International Trade Commission (ITC) litigation, inter partes review (IPR) and post-grant review (PGR) proceedings, patent portfolio management, due diligence in connection with acquisition of patent portfolios, patent licensing, and formulation of strategies for monetizing patent portfolios and strategies for defending against patent assertions. He is experienced in preparing and prosecuting patent applications in a wide range of technologies, including wireless communication systems, optical fiber communication systems, optical devices, semiconductor devices, integrated circuits, microwave and millimeter wave devices, test and measurement equipment, hard disk drives and software. He has also litigated patent cases involving wireless communication systems and software. He has practiced intellectual property law at large international general practice firms as well as patent boutique firms. He also has 7 years of in-house counsel experience in the wireless industry. He is the author of “Reverse Engineering Under the Semiconductor Chip Protection Act: Complications for Standard of Infringement,” 5 Alb. L.J. Sci. & Tech. 249 (1996).
In addition to his law practice experience, Mr. Hsu has engineering experience with the Department of Defense and Hughes Space and Communications Company. He was a Hughes Master of Science Fellow.
